Campaign for Uyghurs (CFU) proudly announces the addition of two distinguished individuals, Mr. Scott Busby and Mr. Eric Brown, to its advisory board. Their extensive experience and commitment to human rights will undoubtedly strengthen CFU’s efforts in advocating for the rights of the Uyghur people.
Scott Busby has spent over 30 years working on human rights, refugee, and migration issues in a variety of positions with the U.S. government and the United Nations (UN). He is currently a Distinguished Fellow at the Human Rights Institute of the Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Busby previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor at the U.S. Department of State, where he oversaw the Bureau’s work on East Asia and the Pacific, the Western Hemisphere, business and human rights, and human rights-based sanctions. Additionally, Mr. Busby managed a wide range of human rights and refugee issues in his position as Director for Human Rights on the National Security Council in the White House from 2009 to 2011.
Eric Brown, a Senior Research Scientist at the College of William & Mary’s Global Research Institute, joins CFU with a profound background in world politics, applied history, and security. Mr. Brown is also a Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute, focusing on Asian and Middle East affairs, international security and development, alternative geopolitical futures, and U.S. diplomacy and strategy. Mr. Brown’s rich experience has equipped him with invaluable insights that will contribute significantly to CFU’s mission of defending the human rights of Uyghurs and holding China accountable for its ongoing genocide in East Turkistan.
“We are honored to welcome Scott Busby and Eric Brown to the advisory board of Campaign for Uyghurs,” said Rushan Abbas, Executive Director of CFU. “Their extensive knowledge, experience, and dedication for human rights align perfectly with CFU’s mission. With their guidance, we look forward to furthering our commitment to addressing the ongoing genocide perpetrated by the Chinese regime to the Uyghur community. We aim to enhance the pivotal role of our Board Advisory Committee by fostering robust communication. Through proactive engagement and shared insights of all of our Board Advisory members, we strive to leverage the collective expertise of the distinguished board members to make informed decisions and drive the organization’s success.”
CFU remains steadfast in its pursuit of justice for the people of East Turkistan, and the addition of Scott Busby and Eric Brown to its esteemed advisory board with Chairman of the Board Turdi Hoja, and members Dr. Rebecca Clothey, Dr. Peter Jan Honigsberg, Dr. Sean Roberts, further strengthens our ability to effect positive change for the Uyghur people.
