WASHINGTON, D.C. — Campaign for Uyghurs (CFU) proudly announces the launch of Unbroken: One Uyghur’s Fight for Freedom, the powerful memoir by CFU’s Executive Director and Chairwoman of the World Uyghur Congress (WUC) Executive Committee, Rushan Abbas. The book will be released on June 10, 2025, across the United States and Canada, and is now available for pre-order on Amazon (U.S. and Canada) and at Barnes & Noble.
In Unbroken, Rushan Abbas traces her personal journey from her university years in Urumchi to the frontlines of advocacy around the world, describing the sacrifices of three generations’ continuous fight for freedom. Interwoven are excerpts from her late father’s unpublished memoir, offering a rare window into an Uyghur intellectual’s experience of Mao’s Cultural Revolution.
With a special message from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Unbroken stands as both a historic testimony and a powerful moral appeal to humanity. It includes forewords by leading China scholar and anthropologist Dr. Adrian Zenz of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, and foreign policy expert and former President and CEO of the Hudson Institute, Dr. Kenneth Weinstein. The book also encompasses commendations and solidarity from 25 distinguished voices around the world—including lawmakers, pro-democracy, human rights and religious leaders, prominent dissidents, journalists, and authors—which CFU is deeply grateful for.
“This book echoes the voices of my people, woven from grief, anchored in resolve, and lifted by hope. It is a testament to our unbroken will and spirit in the face of tyranny. It is a faithful record of communities targeted for their ethno-religious identity, and a warning of the consequences our children will face if we fail to act. Each page bears the weight of the pain and resilience I’ve carried and developed since my innocent sister, Dr. Gulshan Abbas, was disappeared by the Chinese regime simply for being my sister, and for who I am. I hope Unbroken fosters a deeper understanding of the truth and compels action to confront what I believe is today’s greatest threat to humanity,” said Rushan Abbas.
CFU underscores the importance of protecting fundamental human rights and the need for continued, meaningful efforts to uphold the values of freedom, justice, and human dignity for all.
The book is now available for pre-order. Please consider pre-ordering your copy on Sunday, May 11th, via Amazon U.S. or Amazon Canada. Coordinated orders on the same day can help amplify the book’s reach and impact.
